Hi Rachita,

Thanks for the question. Yes, there is nothing stopping you from trying an at home laser hair removal device.

Based on your skin tone and hair color, and if you budget allows, I would suggest you try the Tria.

Do let me know if you have any follow up questions.

Kind Regards,
Lisa

This article is really helpful. I am from India with a wheat-ish skin and dark colored hair. I have facial hair especially on cheeks and chin. I have already gotten a professional treatment (8 sessions – Candela machine) for my face which I did not find very effective. Thus, now I am looking for a home laser hair removal treatment for my face and other body parts. Can I still use one of the above mentioned products after getting a professional treatment? If yes, which one would be the best?

Thank you,
Rachita

Hi Wendy,

Unfortunately, your understanding is correct. The Tria laser and IPL devices work by targeting the dark pigment in the hair which allows the laser energy to be absorbed and then in turn disable the hair follicle – so no at home device will be strong enough to be effective.

Your best bet would be to ring a professional clinic and ask what they suggest, the lasers at clinics are much more powerful.

The other option you might want to consider is electrolysis – this is very effective for smaller areas of stubborn hairs!

Good luck, and I hope this helps a little bit.

Kind Regards,
Lisa

I have been told that no laser or IPL will detect the white or gray hair. Is this true. Any one of them work for these colors?

Hi Ana,

Unfortunately, we are not qualified to give medical advice in regards to the safety of laser hair removal treatment and pregnancy.

From reading other reputable sites like the one linked below we would recommend that it is best to err on the side of caution and avoid it. At the end of the day there have been no scientific studies into the effects but it is probably best to avoid all unnecessary treatments.

We hope that helps.
