Hi Erika,

Great you found these articles helpful.

Shaving with a blade on the labia majora definitely requires a steady hand – it can certainly be done with a lot of patience and practice. Shaving with an electric shaver is a safer option, but the results will not last as long.

Epilating is definitely possible, but I would suggest waxing is something to consider first. They are effectively the same i.e. you are removing the hairs from the root, but epilating would be more of a slow (very slow burn), while waxing is fast (think pulling of a bandaid really fast).

Please check out our article below, and do let me know if you have any follow up questions.

I’m interested in going totally bare, but have found manual razors hard to operate on labia majora….is epilating there a thing? or is it that skin too sensitive / it’s too painful?

Hi Katie,

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, it is always advisable to trim first (working down towards the shortest trimmer setting) before shaving (the trimming step is very quick in fact). This way you will get the fastest and closest shave.

This 2 step process is very normal. For example, people who shave their head typically buy 2-in-1 products that have a trimmer and shaver components. Trimming to the lowest setting first ensures the shave will be as fast and smooth as possible.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Lisa

I am definitely interested in the Panasonic Close Curves… but if I happened to get a little lazy… should I be using the guard first to trim longer hair, then remove the guard for a closer shave? Just curious in terms of hair length limitations with the electric shavers.
